[Admittedly, Yona is not sure how she's going to be able to talk to Chiron, given that as far as she knows he's blind and she's mute, but like, that's not going to stop her from trying. He's smart, she's stubborn; they'll find a way.
So! Into the woods she goes, following the sound of music until she finally manages to track down one (1) horse dad.
She looks upset, but like. Is that really so surprising at this point? This whole trial was upsetting.]
[So many have said as much -- that they understand his choices -- but Chiron smiles and shakes his head a little]
It was to help motivate you all into finding an answer, yes, but I made my decisions with the future in mind. There are... many moving pieces in the Realm.
[...]
And so I made a bid to protect that future, even if I believe I have failed somewhat.
I talked to Emet-Selch. We made some plans in case he isn't able to fight whoever is supposed to execute him tomorrow, but... he said I should share them with you, in case you're chosen and you die in his place.
So, I hate it, but that's what I came here to do. Because we have to be prepared for whatever happens.
I don't think he told me everything. But he said the efforts he was making were why you protected him, and I trust your judgment.
[So. Here they are.]
I made the sign at the inn about passing on messages to the dead. There are probably other people who can do it, but I don't know who all of them are. I can only send two a week and only with a certain number of letters, so I have to keep things short. I think they're limited the same way. So we made a code so that we could communicate information about certain topics using the smallest number of letters.
I also told him if it's possible, I'd like to know if you can see or hear anything that we do. A message I got mentioned that sharing teams was causing problems, and I don't know if it's because they saw it happening, or if they just heard it from someone.
[Once he's had the chance to read it, she scrolls through her notes to show him the code.]
1 - the location where you go when you die, what it's like 2 - specific activities performed by the dead 3 - information learned by the dead 4 - information specifically related to nova 5 - the name of any previous killers that may need to be killed for others' safety Use first letter of someone's name, or as few initials as possible to differentiate, when talking about a person. Use U for unknown.
[Her expression falls a little, just hearing him talk about the possibility that he might die, but she nods.]
I hope it isn't either one of your fates. No one should have to die because they defended themselves, and I'm tired of losing people that I care about.
w3, saturday

[A pause, and then he... looks at her.
Actually looks with both surprise, alarm, and a quick intake of breath.
Apparently even here, fate has decided to mock him.]
... I can... see you.
[With a small, quiet smile]

That actually startles her out of her anger! She blinks rapidly, and then rushes over to hug him.]

returns it, just as startled that this is her reaction to hearing that he can see, and something of a soft exhale escapes him]
... I am glad I get to see you, Yona.

She lingers in the hug for as long as she can before pulling back. Since he can see, that makes this a little easier - she types on the PHS.]
You scared me, during the trial. I understand why you did it, but... it was still scary.

[She hopes so, anyway.
Yona takes a breath, then continues typing.]

You... never cease to surprise me, Yona.
[The most shocked he's been all day. But his expression gentles, tired.]
Then you... know why I protected him?

[This is no laughing matter; he knows it. And yet he smiles looking at all Yona and others have accomplished, his chest filling with pride]
I will keep all of this in mind, should I be the one to die.
no subject
[She hates the very idea of it SO MUCH. It's written all over her face, and now Chiron can see it!]
I already told him, if the Realm picks me again, I want him to fight. I'll fight, too, of course, but I want him to have that chance.
no subject
The feelings of pride do not dissipate, but he will reach out and gently touch her cheek]
... Even if I should be fated to die of my own free will, to honor those who have shown me care and kindness during this third life of mine...
I will at least make Emet-Selch work for his victory.

But even still, I know that you will bear it. You have that strength, and there are others here who will help carry that burden.

I've been very lucky, to have met the people I have. My strength comes from them.
