[yona nods. testing what is objectively true seems like a good course of action to her - the more they know, ultimately, the easier it will be to make good decisions.
she doesn't know if she likes the idea of just accepting what they've been told at face value, but the potential consequences of not accepting it are a little too much to risk. if she stubbornly insists that it can't be right, and kouka ends up in danger as a result, what then?]
Even if we do assume that they're lying, what sort of truth could they be trying to cover up, I wonder... I've been thinking about what could possibly be gained by bringing so many of us here if what they're saying isn't true, but I haven't been able to come up with anything that makes sense.
[...at least they don't really lose much of anything if they play along for now, and potentially, they have a lot to gain.
his hand brushes hers, and without thinking about it (without so much as hesitating, even though the brush of his hand against hers would have terrified her twenty-four hours ago), she shifts to take his hand. it's an easy, affectionate gesture, one they'd shared many times in their childhood, and she catches herself wondering what it was that caused them to stop.]
The others at least seem... agreeable enough for now. Or, the people I've met so far do, anyway. I don't think I've managed to speak with everyone just yet.
They're all pretty nice. [but then again, this is coming from soo-won who kind of likes everyone even if they're kang soo-jin.
and he focuses on answering, instead of the way that it feels natural to hold her hand in his, and the way that it resonates oddly in the gaps of his memory. both simple and complicated all at once, like two notions entirely set at war with one another.

It depends on what they might have to gain from the idea of us both losing memories and being here - if some of us have especially pivotal or influential memories with important information, and it was possible to extract that information from us supernaturally....
But we'd need proof of that happening as well, instead of simply laying out the accusation without reason.
[extracting information from memories supernaturally sounds nearly impossible, but then, so does a whole bunch of people from different worlds being gathered in one place, and that's already happened. "impossible" doesn't really cut it, anymore.]
I guess that would be one way to avoid an interrogation of they thought they wouldn't be able to make us talk...
[but he's right. they need proof.]
Whatever it is that's happening, there's bound to be proof of it somewhere. It will just take time to be able to identify it and gather it.
Well, we needn't only wait. We can look around for discrepancies, search for inconsistencies - we just shouldn't put all of our effort in that attempt when we never know what else might be coming our way.

with this odd feeling this week, he finds his free hand reach out to settle atop her head, gently petting her hair for a moment before pulling back]
No need to feel disheartened so soon - the truth will be revealed in time.
[well! yona was going to say something else, but she's immediately distracted by his petting her hair. that takes her back to when they were kids... her expression softens, and she lets out a relieved sigh that turns into a little laugh.]
...thanks, Soo-won. Talking with you always makes me feel more at ease.
he knows it. something about this is wrong - but even then, he doesn't let his smile budge. rather, if this is what makes yona feel better, he can give her this much until he can crack the mystery of everything else that's happening. it's no different from when they were children, when he carried everything in his heart and let her be.
it's alright, if yona can carry happiness while it's still in her reach.]
I'm always here for you, Yona. It's important we get home, but don't neglect to take care of yourself as well, alright?
Okay, but you also need to take care of yourself, Soo-won.
["or let me take care of you"... she can't quite get herself to say that. why, she wonders? ...maybe she's just feeling shy. she can remember feeling shy around him a lot, in the past.
(if it's strange that she doesn't really feel all that shy right now, she's just... choosing not to think about it. they have enough on their plates.)]
They're a little better. I've been cleaning and bandaging them every day. [with ripped up t-shirt scraps but it's fine.] My throat doesn't hurt as much as before, either. Drinking a lot of tea has helped.

Waiting for that is the hard part.
