... I did, too. Yet even though I know my preference for how that ended, I can't truly blame Kano for what he did.
[would soo-won be able to refrain from doing the same thing? he's not sure, honestly]
.... but we shouldn't be forced into situations where we're meant to lose people. It's alright to be angry, and to feel lost in this situation. It's crafted in a way that we're not able to succeed.
I can't, either. He was innocent, even if he was acting suspicious yesterday. If it was me, I... definitely would have tried to fight.
[would she have tried to backstab jeanne? probably not. she would have announced her intentions before striking the first blow. but she can't begrudge kano for wanting to fight to survive.
isn't that what they all want, in the end?]
...I just wish I could figure out what to do with all this anger. The odds are stacked against us succeeding, but - I can't just accept that it's so easy to fail. I want to do better.
[ . . . . some part of him feels better at that - knowing that yona would be willing to fight. he supposes he's not surprised though, given all that she accomplished away from the castle]
.... would you like to build strategies for the inevitability possibility of a next time?
Yes. [...] I think we should try to get a closer look at the evidence we've gathered, first thing. I know we've examined the bodies right away, the other things we bring over... we don't normally look at that until later.
[he nods at that even as he leans against the tree, apparently letting himself get comfortable]
The evidence and clarifying its condition would be important, and ascertaining more exact causes of death as well. The saw was evidently a red herring, but it was my mistake in not directly taking note of comparisons either.
We also cannot allow all of our attention to be diverted in one direction again. A theory may be posited and just because it appears to be true does not inherently make it truth. Rather than buying into it entirely, the option should instead be to divide resources.
[spoken like
a king who wishes that he could simply command his way to victory, honestly. this would be easier if it were a true war, and he had troops at his call]
...I think we should try to get people to share their theories even if they're not completely sure about them, too. A lot of us seem to not really say much unless we're certain...
[Which... in some ways can be good - she wouldn't want to muddy the waters. But, still.]
But sometimes talking about it with everyone can help figure things out. Maybe hearing what's on someone's mind might help someone else figure out what has them stumped, right?
Stand on a table and yell? [a beat] Only in jest, of course.
[please don't actually do this]
... well, we can attempt to divide our attention. For example - next week, if there are two bodies again, you can express your intent to focus on one, and I will focus on the other.
At the very least, then we two will be able to ascertain more answers than switching back and forth and getting muddled between them.
Mm. Let's try that, as long as no one beats one of us to it.
[read: as long as my work doesn't leave me too slow to jump right onto body invest]
...it's probably worth revisiting the places we investigate right away, too. Just to make sure nothing got missed - a second pair of eyes might spot something that wasn't seen the time before.
Mm, we can. If we feel that some place was especially busy or hard to look through, we can go back right away - but if it feels like pieces are missing, we should search for them sooner rather than later.
It will be easier once we have answers that we can discern from what we already brought with us.

soo-won is just going to watch her, eyes following the line of her arrow.]
... relieved that Jeanne is alright.
[but he supposes
anger is also an understandable emotion]

a lot of things!]
I'm glad she's alright, too. For a second, I thought...
[yona sighs, lining up another shot.]
I don't know. I'm tired of losing people, but it doesn't seem like it's going to stop anytime soon. This is twice in a row, now.

[which he does sigh a little bit over]
Sometimes watching it happen feels a little bit like when cats chase after pockets of light.
While we can suggest these things, we also need to recognize the possibility of them being implemented effectively.

[trials: a nine-hour exercise in catherding]
I wonder if there's anything we can plan to do in case it doesn't get implemented as effectively as we want to...

...we made mistakes this week, but we'll learn from them. We have to.
