[ The arcade... Jeanne is in here in case there is somehow something new that popped up here. That doesn't seem to be the case, but video games are novel in and of themselves, so she's going to take some time to take a whack at one of them. Literally.
Or Smac in this case.
She's quite good at hitting those moles right when they come up. In fact, she's almost too into it? That she doesn't notice Yona right away.
But Yona, if she's observant enough, may notice that Jeanne's clothes seem a little more damaged than they were the last time they saw each other. A little more ripped. And that maybe there are some signs of scratches that weren't there before? ]
[Wow, Jeanne's reflexes are impressive! Those moles don't stand a chance. She sort of pauses when she hears the sound of them getting smacked, quietly admiring her form for a few moments -
But it's impossible not to notice the state of her clothes, either, and when there's a pause, she speaks up.]
[ Whack Smack goes the mole— Jeanne turns when she hears her name. ]
Oh, Yona. [ She gives her a small smile. ] I visited the river at night to see how aggressive the mermaids were or if they could be reasoned with first.
[ She doesn't sound too put out by that, though. ]
Yona's on her way to the forest. She's got her bow in one hand and some arrows tucked into her sash (for lack of a quiver), and she does not look happy. What up, Jeanne.]
[ The question on everyone's (or at least her) mind is why was Yona voted for? What happened there?
It's concerning. Even after all the things that occurred tonight, that on top of it all is a lot, so Jeanne wants to check up on her among a few other things. ]
Yona. Are you here to release some of your feelings?
[Honestly, I'm just going to say that Yona's out because the thought of her coming back to Jeanne standing in front of her room with a basket of stuffed animals is really funny.
[Where is Jeanne on this fine Monday? Wherever she happens to be, Yona will come across her. She waves, careful to avoid popping a fog-filled bubble, and then steps forward (also narrowly avoiding stepping on a fog-filled bubble). She seems to be trying very, very hard to avoid them.
Unfortunately, one just drifts over and bumps against her cheek, and without thinking, she bats it away with a hand - and pops it.
The next thing they know, she's being shoved into a dark room (timestamp: 2:20). there are many other young women in this room, looking downcast and rather worse for the wear - but all them are very, very pretty. Yona flinches as she tries to get up from where she's been shoved onto the ground, and her companion points out that it looks like her ankle was sprained when she fell.
Will I be able to carry out our plan like this? If we fail...
The door opens with a creak, and a large, imposing man steps in through the doorway.
"I see... you're all excellent. Awa still has some value left in it." "Lord Kum-ji, what is the meaning of this? We came looking for work..." "There is work. Work so fun, you may not be able to handle it."
The man is, obviously, a sleazeball. He takes a few steps into the room, and then grabs Yona roughly by her hair, yanking her up to her feet.
"Red hair? Unusual, indeed. Your face isn't bad, either. I almost regret having to sell you. ...with so many excellent goods, keeping one for myself would be no great loss."
Gross.
Yoon, clearly, is not having it, and ends up getting kicked and coughing up blood for his troubles. You tried, Yoon.
"Don't interrupt me when I'm having fun!" "Lord Kum-ji, you'll damage the merchandise..."
The other man gets smacked around for his troubles, too. The young women gathered in this room are, clearly, terrified, but Kum-ji doesn't seem to give a single shit, and presses Yoon's head into the ground with his boot.
"Good, good... Nothing pleases me more than obedient women who tremble in silence. Just like this redhead."
He looks down at Yona, whose expression is murderous, and drops her in shock. She hits the ground hard. He looks from his hand, to her, and then asks if she's from Awa. She says that she is, but he doesn't seem convinced.
"Long ago, I once saw red hair like yours at Hiryuu Castle. For just a moment, in the distance, I saw her hair reflecting the sun. The girl was Princess Yona."
Yona stares up at him in silence.
"Are you Princess Yona?"
She moves, quietly, until she's facing him, and lowers herself in a respectful bow.
"I am the daughter of a poor Awa merchant. I came because I heard you were offering work. I don't know your red-haired princess, but if being her would please you, I will call myself 'Princess Yona'."
She stays like that, silent, not looking up at him.
"I let myself go too far. Unlike you, Princess Yona would be too self-respecting to rub her face on the ground and grovel before me for work, filthy wench!"
He turns away, and she stays still, exactly where she is, until the door shuts behind him at a timestamp of about 6:38, when the memory ends.]
[ They can be meeting outside their room and have a sudden memshare. It's all cool in this not-a-school.
Jeanne shuts her eyes after it all plays out, not because it's too much for her to witness but because she witnessed it without permission. When she opens her eyes, Jeanne smiles a little. ]
You truly do extreme things, don't you.
[ It's not an admonishment or anything. It's an observation and perhaps a confirmation after one of their last conversations. ]
[ She doesn't flinch that Yona admits so easily to murder. Some people have to die in the scheme of things. Jeanne never thinks murder is good or right, but it is necessary at times. It's a choice.
It also doesn't escape her what Yona didn't address. ]

Yona. Are you here to release some of your feelings?
no subject
[It's an easy enough question to answer.]
...I think that's better than getting mad at anyone else right now.
no subject
Who do you wish to be angry with?

[It feels like it should be easier for her to answer that question, but - she really, truly doesn't know.]

[ She'd call it a trial, but she doesn't want to call it a trial. ]
There is nothing happy about it, but if there has to be a common enemy, it'd be the source of the disturbances.

Jeanne's holding a basket of stuffed animals in one arm as she knocks on the door with her free one. If Yona isn't in, Jeanne will wait. ]

So, from somewhere behind her, she'll hear:]
Jeanne?

This is for you. I saw how you looked at them last week.
[ .... ]
And I wanted to see how you were. I meant to come to come sooner, but... I didn't know if you'd prefer space or not.
[ Her smile is apologetic. ]

Yona accepts the basket gratefully. When she gets into her room she's going to cuddle with all of them.]
...thank you. I'm doing okay. [She's been lucky! Lots of people have been checking on her.] Are you holding up alright?
no subject
[ It's a gentle follow up, but she's not pressing Yona if she's saying she's okay just to say it. ]
I am holding up fine. I'm... [ How does she want to say this? ] I'm not unused to some of these circumstances.

[Well.
There are worse memories she could have shared with Jeanne, she supposes.]
Sometimes extreme things are what's necessary to move forward.

[ Without a doubt, if she had been in that position, she probably would've done something different to get similar results. ]
I hope you weren't too much more hurt after that. [ Nothing worse than the ankle, she hopes. ] Did you succeed?

I killed him. The human trade in Awa is over and done with.
