Ah, sorry. They are means of transportation. Like carriages, but without horses. They have ways of being powered without being pulled. A bus is for many people, like a few carriages put together. A subway is underground. It's also for many people.

It does, but it's a bit more dangerous than traveling by horse and carriage. Not that you can't be injured on a horse either.

New York is full of people from many different cultures. It makes New York very lively, but... there can also be a lot of fighting. I wasn't born in New York, though.

What makes it more dangerous?

Well, they all go very fast, and sometimes can be difficult to control without skill. Like riding a horse.

It's nice. The country is large. The weather is mild, but the winters are very chilly. There's mountains on the east, a large lake on the west. It's one of the divides between two larger territories.

I see... it sounds nice, though. I've been to the mountains in Kouka, and the sunrises are beautiful from the peaks. I bet it's beautiful in Kazakhstan, too.

They are nice. There's cities, but being in rural Kazakhstan is refreshing. You can see all of the flat land between the mountains, if you're on one.

[He smiles.]

What about your family? Are they there?

[Anna I swear to god. He's being so nice but he keeps hitting these landmines.

[What does she enjoy? Singing, dancing, coming up with pretty outfits and doing her makeup to try to look nice for the person she liked - all of that seems like something from a whole lifetime ago.

I learned how to fight with a sword, and to shoot a bow. I'd been practicing almost every day, and it feels good each time I manage to learn to do something new.

[He smiles faintly in amusement, though it falters slightly at the end.]

Did you have to learn how to use them to protect yourself?

[He thinks there's a difference between wanting to learn the sword and the bow, and having to learn them to survive.]

[But that's why pretty much anyone learns to take up weapons, she thinks.]

But! I've been able to use them for other things, too. One time, there were people taking bets on where people would be able to hit a target, and everyone but my... friend thought I was going to miss. I hit the center, and it made him smile.

[Her expression softens at that. That's a good memory.]

[He smiles a little for her. It's good to hear she has some fucking good memories that aren't filled with, like, shackles, or child prostitution.]

Also god if Yona knew what he was assuming she would clear up the misconception immediately, but alas, she is not a mindreader. Instead, she'll probably just keep saying things that will continue to make him deeply concerned.]

It is. When you have people who believe in you that much, it's possible to do anything, I think.
