[as sora walks out of the emporium, he finds himself running into one of the people he's wanted to seek out the most. she's a little ways ahead of him, but he lifts a hand and calls out without thinking about it.]

Yona! [he dashes toward her, coming up beside her and pausing to look her over.] ...I was actually just looking for you.

[dawnblushed]

Sora...?

[yona stops, looking over at him as he catches up to her. she seems a little calmer now, and her eyes are a little red, but. it's fine probably.]

...you wanted to check on me?

[reconnective]

[he kind of rubs the back of his neck sheepishly before folding both hands behind his head.]

When you put it like that...[but he nods.] I wanted to see how you were doing. That was...kind of a lot this morning.

[dawnblushed]

You can say that again.

I've seen people die before, and I've... [she hesitates.] I've killed before, but that was in... it was in battle. This just... felt different.

[reconnective]

...I know what you mean. [there's a soft frown.] In battle, you have to do what needs to be done in order to survive and protect the people you love. But this was more like someone telling you to do their work for them. It wasn't fair.

[would it have been better if he could? probably not. yona wouldn't expect him to walk out of there alive if he'd added a third body to his count, but still.]

And I couldn't... I didn't want to walk in there, but I did. My legs just... moved. [...] But once I was there, it was me that pulled the lever.

It's not your fault though. Even if you're the one who pulled the lever, it's not like you asked for this. This Realm's messed up now, it's not playing fair.

...besides, we don't know what would have happened if you didn't. [and that's just as scary.]

...I know. It just doesn't sit right with me, I guess.

[yona sighs.]

This better not happen again.

That's because you're a good person. [it's said so plainly despite the fact they've only known each other for a week, but there it is.]

I really hope this was the end of it, but...we don't know how messed up the Realm still is. We should be ready for anything now.

[sora is a decent judge of character, she thinks. she'll take that as a compliment.]

...the things Virid said before he... before I executed him. What did you think of them?

[she's. curious. she knows how she feels about everything she heard, but there was so much going on, she hadn't really been able to look back and see how the others were reacting.]

...which part? The story about his twin? Or the part where he said he remembered what he lost after he killed Hajime?

The part about how he remembered what he'd lost.

...I wondered if he was lying. To try and justify why he hurt Hajime and Pikachu. But the way he was describing it...I don't think he was.

[...] Are you still missing what you forgot?

I don't think he was, either.

...but, I think I am. I don't remember anything any differently than I did before all of that. Maybe... it's because I didn't choose to do it, but was told that I had to.

...I don't know if that's it either. Would there really be that much of a difference, you think? [how confusing...]

[yona lets out an annoyed little huff.]

The only thing I do know is I still don't understand how the Realm works.

Neither do I. I was thinking of going to talk to the leaders some more today though. After what just happened, maybe they have a better idea. The Realm had to give them some kind of hint, right?

I hope so. I was thinking I would wait until tomorrow... they're probably dealing with a lot of people who are upset because of what happened right now.

Yeah...but that's also kinda why I want to see them. Somebody should check in and make sure they're doing alright, too.

...oh... that's true. I just didn't want to overwhelm them...

I don't think it's overwhelming to be concerned about a friend. [yona has never said she's friends with the leaders, but that's sora's own logic bleeding through.] It might be too much if we bombard them with a ton of questions, but one or two might be okay.

I'm sure they will be. [he also can acknowledge not everyone is...him...who bugs them whenever they're around.] But I don't think anybody would blame you for looking after yourself today instead.
