anyway. wherever clem happens to be, yona is there. she's ... reading a book? yep. she's reading a book. even if wherever clem happens to be is not a good place to be reading a book.]
[ why are you reading in the forest instead of somewhere comfortable like the lobby! see, now i get to make character decisions for you and then make fun of them.
... anyway. clem knows how to move quietly, but she's kind of trying to make some noise as she approaches so that she doesn't startle yona. ]
[look when you spend a good chunk of time traveling around in forests, reading while sitting against the trunk of a tree can feel more natural than doing it indoors!
anyway, she holds up the book - it's titled "a little princess," by frances hodgson burnett.]
This. Someone gave it to me. [...] It's pretty good so far.
[ there aren't many books she would have recognized, so why ask? ... mainly just to put off asking what she really wants to, because she doesn't think she'll be any good at offering comfort and isn't even sure yona will want to talk to her. ]
I know what you mean. I'm used to having someone to shoot.
[ meet a bad guy? kill them! problem solved. but killing virid didn't bring that satisfaction, and there are still rules being enforced that mean someone else deserves to be shot. ]
...I think what bothers me the most about it is... it didn't seem like it would have been any different if we'd gotten it wrong. So, it wasn't justice. It was just a spectacle.
[ just yeets this at you without permission, but hi!! sometime after trial, clementine is seeking yona out. just to check up on her... she just thinks yona is nice... ]
wherever clem happens to be, she will witness the probably comical sight of yona desperately trying to avoid popping memory bubbles. there are so many of them. everywhere she turns there's a new bubble.
eventually, she trips, throws out an arm to try and catch herself, and pops a bubble.
all at once, they're on a ship (timestamp 11:33 because youtube hates me and no longer has these there so i have to go to crunchyroll). there's the sound of arrows whizzing through the air, and the clank of metal on metal, pained grunts as people fight and die out on the sea. yoon calls out to two of the fighters that "kum-ji" should be on a certain ship, and as people emerge from the one they're on to tie up some of the mercenaries, yona stares out at the water, her expression stony.
yona doesn't see jae-ha search for kum-ji belowdecks, but she does see when shin-ah points out where he's fled the scene in a much smaller boat, and she does see when jae-ha leaps out over the ocean to catch up with him. she sees when kum-ji draws his bow and shoots him out of the sky.
she sees when he aims his bow at him where he's helpless in the water.
"Well, flying dragon? You can't fly, now that you've fallen into the sea!"
...but something draws his attention away from him.
it's yona.
she's standing at the front of the ship, her bow aimed directly at him, practically radiating rage and bloodlust.
somehow (and it should be impossible), she hears him say her name aloud.
"...Princess Yona."
she lets the arrow fly, and even with the distance, even with the rocking of the ship she stands on and the smaller boat he's in on the waves -
her arrow strikes right through to his heart.
he falls over the side of his boat and vanishes beneath the water, and yona, where she's standing, remembers her father. she remembers his smile in life, and remembers his pale, lifeless form in death.
Father...
she stares out at the water, until the memory ends at timestamp 16:45.]
[ looks at the cr chart. looks at this memory. yona you don't need to practice shooting for shit.
it takes clem a moment to recover from the memory, looking a bit dazed at how much that was. the ships, the clearly different culture. yona, and the word 'princess.' that's certainly not something she had expected from yona. the pricess part, sure, why not. but the bloodlust.
... but the most important thing, she thinks, is that yona had been trying to dodge the bubbles. ]
[look you gotta practice or your skills will get rusty!!
anyway.
yona hasn't actually thought about that night in a while. right after it happened, she'd thought of it constantly - but it feels like a distant memory, now. it's a little unsettling, actually; how could she have forgotten about taking a life?
clem's apology gets her a slightly confused look.]

How are you doing? After today?
no subject
[the wonders of jamjars! you really can learn about a whole bunch of new things when you're around people from other worlds.
at clem's question, she takes note of her page and shuts the book.]
...I'm angry that it had to happen that way. But I don't know what to do with that anger.
[so. here she is!]

[ clem comes to lean against the counter nearby ]
Too bad we won't have that every week.
no subject
[like... hm.]
I got a bracelet, this week, but it won't be as useful as the stone, I think.
no subject
[ a hassle... ]
I got a bracelet, too. Mine seems pretty useless, honestly.

Which would have been really helpful during that pirate attack! It's a little late to be giving me something like that, Realm!
